Home Location Activities Sponsors Volunteers Media Links Culture Français	Matsuri Japon is an event presented in the spirit of a traditional Japanese festival, as a means to develop greater awareness of Japanese culture among Montreal citizens and foreign visitors. For the seventh year, thousands of people will be welcome to celebrate and share the spirit of Japanese culture in a unique event. The Matsuri, meaning ‘festival’ in Japanese, will not only feature many of the activities and entertainment found at traditional festivals in Japan, but will also introduce other dynamic and unique attractions to make it a memorable occasion. Performances, organized events, and demonstrations will be held throughout the day, and festival goers will be invited to join in on the Japanese cultural celebrations. During the day, Japanese cuisine will add flavour to the event and satisfy the appetites of those looking for new culinary experiences. This year the event will be held in Montreal’s Old Port (Bonsecours island) on Saturday August 16th 2008 from 2pm to 9pm. *** NEWS *** Join us for Japanese Bon-Odori Dance Practice to dance at the festival. There will be a total of 4 practice sessions: On Thursdays July 24th, July 31st and August 7th at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal （8155 rue Rousselot, 514-728-1996) On Wednesday August 13th, at Centre de Loisirs communautaires Lajeunesse #317 (7378 Lajeunesse, 514-278-2654) From 7pm to 9pm Fee : $10 (Donation for Matsuri-japon 2008) If you have a Yukata and a pair of zori, please bring them. One bottle of water and a towel might be helpful.
